Hi, My name is Life Escobar.
I am a storyteller, filmmaker, and artist devoted to creating for collective liberation.
My favorite ways to create are through filmmaking, photography, cyanotype, painting, drawing, linocut printing, poetry, and dance.
Cyanotypes
I am in love with hand-printing my photography and art as cyanotypes. I love the deep blues and the image slowly emerging in water. I love how each print is different.
Photography
I am in love with pockets of beauty and light, in finding the sacred in previously unseen corners, and how grace finds me on a neighborhood walk.
Linocuts
I believe the soul speaks through symbols. I am in love with having a conversation with the divine through the act of creation. I love mystic, earth-loving symbols that affirm our belonging in the web of life and death.

Through my company Awake Storytelling, I partner with social movements to shift culture through video storytelling.
These videos are movement portraits- visualizing the collective heartbeat of people fighting for liberation.
Systems of oppression are not inevitable.
All systems rooted in domination, extraction, and oppression (white supremacy, imperialism, patriarchy, capitalism, hetero/cisnormativity +) must end.
We have the ability to interrupt the cycles of harm we’ve inherited.
We belong - to each other and to life.
We are earth.
Every life is sacred.
The future we are building: Land Back, Indigenous sovereignty, Black liberation, reparations, abolition of the carceral state, ancestral remembrance, and deep care for each other and the earth.
